Abstract
Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells of the body. There are plenty of reasons that can result in cancer. Oral or mouth cancer is the 11th most common cancer. Mouth cancer is a malignant neoplasia of the lips or oral cavity. ⅔ of the oral cancers occur in middle and low income countries. India accounts for ⅕ of all cases of mouth cancer. Use of tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption are major risk factors of mouth cancers. The condition is painful and gets worse overtime, therefore, early diagnosis and management of the condition is necessary as the condition gets severe over time. Introduction
Cancer of the oral cavity and any of its parts including lips, cheeks, hard palate, soft palate, floor of the mouth, cheeks, pharynx and floor of the mouth is known as Oral or Mouth cancer. One of the leading causes of mouth cancer is tobacco consumption.There are other causes as well which results in mouth cancer. In Ayurveda, the condition can be correlated with the aam, which is considered toxic, a disease causing prop inflammation. The condition can also be compared with tridosha vitiation. In this condition, the Ayurvedic concept of treating the condition is pacification of the vitiated dosha and cleansing of the body by various karmas which are known as Panchkarma.

Management Of Mouth Cancer
- Management depends on the site and stage of the tumour
- Treatment usually includes Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Surgery.
- Chemotherapy: In chemotherapy, chemicals are used to kill cancer cells. Chemical drugs can be given alone or with a combination of other drugs. Chemotherapy has common side effects like hair loss, vomiting, nausea etc.
- Radiotherapy: High energy beams including x rays, protons are used to kill cancer cells. Radiotherapy is often used after surgery. Radiotherapy's side effects include dry mouth, damaged jaw bones, tooth decay etc.
- Surgery: Surgery includes removing the cancer opart and healthy tissue around the tumour. If the tumour spreads to lymph nodes then they are also excised. Reconstructive surgery is done by transplanting grafts of skin, bone, muscles, dental implants to build the structure that is essential to do daily activities that are deranged by the surgery.
